Stored on your device
This prototype stores followed place IDs and a previous-visit timestamp in your browser’s local storage. They support your following list and the sample “Since last visit” view. Clearing this site’s browser data removes them.
No tracking or advertising
The application includes no analytics, ad scripts, account system, or tracking cookies. Fonts and map geography are served with the application. Source feeds are downloaded by the server; your followed places are not sent to those providers. Country and city searches are sent through this app to Photon / OpenStreetMap. The country directory comes from GeoNames. The development server may write ordinary request and error logs.
Device location
Location is requested only when you choose “Use my location” and your browser grants permission. It sets an approximate map area without a reverse-address lookup. The position marker remains in page memory and is not saved to your account or local storage. The area and map position appear in the page URL, so copied links can reveal that approximate location. Opening a local forecast sends coordinates rounded to two decimal places through this app to Open-Meteo weather and CAMS air-quality services.
Perspective and questions
When an AI perspective is displayed, public source excerpts for the selected report category, the selected place label, public country name/code, chosen health or annual world indicator, reporting year and matching public report references are sent to external analysis providers. If you ask a question, its text is also shared for analysis; leave out personal or sensitive information. Generated briefings are cached on the server for reuse. Your exact device coordinates, followed-place list and browser history are not included in these analysis requests.
Shared views
Copied map links include selected filters, a selected place or area, a selected health or annual indicator/country and reporting year, map position, and optionally a report. Pins for searched places use representative coordinates rounded to two decimal places in the link. Your browser-derived position pin stays in page memory and is not added as a shared pin. They do not include your followed-place list or previous-visit timestamp. Anyone receiving a link can see the place explicitly included in it.
External sources
Publisher thumbnails load directly from publisher image servers, which receive ordinary image requests; EarthCurrent suppresses the referrer on these images. Following a source link opens that provider’s website, which has its own policies. Public hosting, analytics, or advertising would require an updated privacy notice before activation.
