World overviewHow it works

Perspective starts with the limits.

Different events, different clocks. A useful overview makes those differences visible.

What the time filter means

“Updated in” filters newly published or materially revised reports. It does not imply that the underlying event happened in that window. Each report also shows its occurrence or reporting period. Monthly climate and conflict research appear separately as published context, outside the recent-update window. Fetching a source does not change its publication date.

What the map means

Incident markers illustrate points; regional reports use representative points and explicitly state their precision. A country-level report is not a claim about every city. Numbered markers group nearby records; they do not measure danger.

Climate needs a longer view

ENSO assessments describe a large-scale ocean–atmosphere pattern. They do not establish why a particular local event happened. Temperature and rainfall comparisons need consistent geography, observation periods, units, and a stated baseline. The current assessment is attributed to NOAA CPC with its issue date preserved.

Revisions are part of the record

An updated estimate belongs to the original event. It should show what changed and when, rather than appearing as a new event. EarthCurrent retains first-import and material-revision history observed after the first download. Repeated checks do not create new revisions.

No universal danger score

Earthquake magnitude, disease reporting intervals, conflict estimates, and climate anomalies describe different phenomena. EarthCurrent keeps their meanings separate. Category colors identify the type of report.

Reading a perspective

Perspective provides AI-assisted interpretation of a bounded selection of source excerpts for the selected category. The compact explanation is visible in the information panel and can be opened for full evidence and questions. It describes worldwide source context; local map area and time filters do not make it a personalized local assessment. It separates observations, possible implications, what to monitor and uncertainty, with links back to the cited reports. An additional automated evidence check can withhold an unsupported briefing. These checks can still miss mistakes and are not independent factual verification. Briefings are dated and cached; they do not predict earthquakes, conflict or disease spread, and do not replace official guidance.

Designed for understanding

This prototype is not an emergency warning, medical advisory, or tactical monitoring service. Imported reports are not independently verified by EarthCurrent. Consult original sources and official local guidance.
